Every evening I write down ten things that defined my day. I try to capture the good and the bad, things that I am grateful for, things that I am looking forward to, and what I do that day just for me, I really just write the little details that made that day different from others. I enjoy it and it works for me. Here’s some things pulled from various days over the past week:
- I got a new phone, not because I wanted to but because it kept dialing emergency services because the updates didn’t mesh well.
- Set up with new phone required more steps than moon landing but it works
- My daughter ordered her graduation portraits on a Friday- we got the prints the following Tuesday- crazy how fast things can be printed and deleivered
- I finished Daisy Jones and the Six- as you know that was one of my fave books from a few years ago and I was thrilled with the mini series. However, my friend K had a different interpretation of something so would LOVE to discuss this show/book with anyone who has seen it
- Watched a mini series on Netflix which was supposed to take place on my daughters college campus, but it wasn’t filmed there…so it was weird to watch the faux campus
- Speaking of TV- Ted Lasso is still one of my favorites
- I had a tough March for some reason- I have gotten a breath of fresh air and a little revitalization, and I’m looking forward to April
- Can’t decide if Sam Claflin is classically good looking or just a nice face
- Got my quarterly Stitch Fix and was thrilled with it
- Discovered Scottish Tea- perfect morning brew
Discipling yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the high road to pride, self-esteem and personal satisfaction. Margaret Thatcher
Sam Claflin has a nice enough face but it is Sam Heughan who has classic good looks. (or is it just me that melts whenever he appears on the screen?)

March felt very disjointed to me, making me feel blah. April needs to step up and be better for sure!

This list is super fun, as are all your “Ten Things” lists. I received a free copy of Daisy and the Six from my health plan in 2021, part of an effort to keep us geezers from going senile by encouraging us to read, I guess. Knowing nothing the book, I selected it because it was the only one on the list I hadn’t read. I didn’t care for it at all. I just looked back at my notes on it. I wrote that the accounts of the women were very unrealistic and that there were lapses in detail. Specifically, I noted that there were no over-the-counter pregnancy tests available in the time period in which the book is set. Yes, I am one of those annoying readers and film watchers who is highly irritated by sloppy editing and poor fact-checking. I know I am in the minority about this book, and because the book didn’t appeal to me I didn’t watch the series. Part of my impatience and boredom with the book may have been because I read it right after finishing Patrick Radden Keefe’s Empire of Pain and before reading The Love Songs of W.E.B. Dubois by Honore Jeffers, both of which were riveting and made Daisy seem silly and trivial in comparison. Don’t @ me. 😉

I don’t remember the pregnancy test thing…but I thought the women were very realistic as to what I know about the 70s and remember. But that’s me. I have to check the pregnancy test thing because I know Reid is an amazing researcher and specializes in this period.

I just looked it up. The ept was invented in 1976 and was first available in 1978, which is when karen took the pregnancy test during the Aurora tour

Shame that March was tough for you, but your daughter’s graduation pics should be a high point. New phone? I’ve had that experience and I wouldn’t wish it in on anyone. Well, yes I would, but that person has to be someone I really can’t stand. I don’t know Sam Claflin so if I want to see a nice face, I look for Olivia DeHaviland. April is here. Let’s face the new month with hope and a good attitude. Better days gotta come.

Wet, cold, and atmospheric-rivered! 🙃 Ted Lasso gets my 👍, too!
Congrats on your new phone. Just today I was reading about “audio logos” and they had samples of famous ones from the past like the Nokia phone one from yesteryear. You would think you would have forgotten it, but no, it apparently sticks in one’s memory more than you would have imagined (at least we immediately recognized it after not hearing it in well over a decade or so)!

I loved Daisy Jones and the Six both the book and the series. Having lived in LA during the 70s, it brought back lots of memories. I am a huge Taylor Jenkins Reid fan so I felt she captured a lot of the times and the series did the book justice, especially the original music. Initially, the various viewpoints in the book were distracting but as a series, it worked very well. I also loved the casting. Riley Keough was excellent as Daisy.

I loved everything about it. But here’s my question…the love triangle so to speak…what did you think about the players? I don’t want to say my opinion to sway you

Hmm…I liked that Daisy and Billy never actually sleep together. I was once called by a producer of Oprah’s book club about an email I wrote. The question (and book although it was so long ago I can’t remember the title) debated whether a person was cheating if they never had sex with the other person. I argued that an emotional relationship was just as potent maybe more so. This is how I think of Billy and Daisy’s relationship because she relates to him and his art. And Cami knows this and I believe reacts in a realistic way. he claims at the end he had to work his way back to her. What happens to Daisy and Billy at the end? Hard to say. They are both sober which changes a lot of things but I still believe they connect on a deep level and now they have been given permission by Cami to explore their relationship. It rang true for me. Curious about your take. Thanks for asking!

I agree that I liked that they never slept together, which is why I’d argue that Daisy was his true love. I think he did love Cammie, but I think he stayed with her because he didn’t want to be like his father and leave Julia broken like he was. I think cammie was mature enough to know this which is why she tells her daughter to get them together. I agree about the sober part, but Billy was sober when he was in love with Daisy…and I’m thinking Daisy really loves him. But who knows!😉

I agree with your assessment. I think Daisy was really in love with Billy and felt like he was playing with her which is why she ran away to Greece and rushed into a marriage (by the way, I loved those scenes and her clothes and wanted to run away to Greece myself!) I think it was because Billy was sober that he was able to fight his own feelings to stay with Cammie and Julia, even on that last crazy day. I did love Cammie, I thought she was a great character who was very clear-eyed about everyone in the band. I do want to know if Billy and Daisy get together but I also am glad the book ended where it did. Keep us guessing!

Cammie was like their moral compass in a way…she saw it all and make a determined effort to not let her feelings intrude….though I love when her daughter asks if she did the right thing, and came looks at her and says did I, or something like that. Great scene

I feel your pain with the new phone. It’s supposed to be so easy to get a new one set up, but it certainly isn’t. Our last rodeo was during the lockdown shortages and during the Christmas rush. As in your case, the timing was not our choice. People were waiting hours in line to talk to a representative only to find out that there were none physically available in the store that met their requirements. Then off to yet another store. 😱 On the bright side of the month, your recommendation of Scottish tea is something I will follow up on. Wishing you a great April.
