Yesterday we had good- today we have bad…or movies that I just didn’t appreciate
These are my least favorite movies of the year:
- Armageddon Time
- EO
- Alone Together
- Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- All the Old Knives
- Cyrano
- Ascension
- In the Same Breath
- Empire of Light
Movies I think are getting undeserved Oscar buzz
- EO
- All That Breathes
- Eternal Spring
- Triangle of Sadness
- Empire of Light
Overrated:
- Nope
- The Northman
- The Lost Daughter
- Don’t Look Up
Movies I was looking forward to and was disappointed:
- Thor: Love and Thunder
- From Where They Stood
The worst acting was by far Katie Holmes in her self directed Alone, Together, followed closely by Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker

After with almost all. But loved “All the old knives” though. Have written a detailed review of that movie. It’s intense stuff

A lot of people liked that movie. I thought it was overdone. But I’m probably in the minority that didn’t like it

Have go through my review. You might understand a bit why I liked it.

Yep, we had a back and forth on this, and by the by did “Diva” make one of your list I missed?

I only rate newLy released movies. In my own warped sense of fairness, if I had a year of rewatching old films much of the new stuff wouldn’t stand a chance.

Understood and agree.

I haven’t seen one of these, and it sounds like I might not be missing much )

I couldn’t get farther in than about 20 minutes of Armageddon Time… Nope was also not a winner in my book.

I’m shocked it’s on The NY Times list. I thought it was painful to sit through.

I am like beth and have not seen any of those movies; however, I have watched a good documentaries which show we different areas of the world and cultures. Interesting how we all have two eyes but see so differently.

Sorry for typos. As usual, doing a few things: meant to say “have watched a few good documentaries which show us…..” Yes, indeed and as long as we keep celebrating the differences, mostly.

maybe, I should just say observing the differences and making note but not always celebrating…just noting, thinking, etc. and allowing others their point of view. Thanks for listening.

I’ll make sure I avoid them all.
Maybe try ringing in the new year with Jack Benny in The Horn Blows At Midnight. I think it was his last one.

I was thoroughly disappointed by Thor after really looking forward to it,

The Oscars seem to be politically motivated (not talking national politics here) within the Hollywood crowd. It is not apparent to me what deserves an Oscar in their opinion. As always, if I cared, I would follow the money, but I don’t care enough about the “stars” to bother.

I don’t watch the awards, but a lot of the movies are solid. Occasionally they pick a stinker.

I agree re Tom Hanks. I liked the Elvis movie, but not his acting, but admit I don’t know what the man was like in real life. I’m anxious to see his new movie though, a remake of A Man Called Ove, as I saw the Swedish movie and enjoyed it.

I just remember him saying he must wear the Christmas sweater and he must sing the Christmas song…

The titles alone did nothing for me. Thanks for the warnings!

My dad tried very hard to talk me into watching “Don’t Look Up,” but I just never had much desire to see it. Sounds like maybe I didn’t miss much.

I watched the Katie Holmes movie with Julie and Kelley and we felt the same as you. Wow, so disappointing! Hugs, C

It was a good concept but just fell apart…it was almost pointless

Don’t Look Up wasn’t satirical enough, but I understand. It’s hard to be satirical when life is so ridiculous.

It was too forced…like they were going for the cheap laugh. Too good a cast to waste
