Merry Christmas! Or whatever floats your boat!! Tis the season!!
Manhattan- 5th and 6th Ave between 59th St and 49th St. including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. NYC is really quite spectacular during ChristmasMenorah and Christmas Tree at Madison Square ParkWe obviously don’t have room for a ping pong table in our apartment, but we do have places like PingPod, where you can rent a room with a table. We had so much fun even though my daughter crushed me. *** One of my Husband’s friends sings with the New York City Community Chorus, so we went to their wonderful holiday performance. ***First Edition Manuscript of A Christmas Carol at Morgan Library*** Central Park from 59th St. ***Funny Girl on Broadway- Lea Michelle sings her tuchus off- her rendiition of Don’t Rain on my Parade may be the best vocal performance I’ve ever seen on Broadway. Incredible.*** South Street Seaport TreeMorgan Library- Ashley Bryan & Langston Hughes Sail Away- This was a nice memorial to Bryan and HughesMorgan Library- She Who Wrote- I was fascinated by this exhibit!!Morgan Library- George Baselitz- THese were the only two paintings that I liked…Morgan Library- The Little Prince- Fun Fact- The Little Prince is the worlds most translated text excluding all religious texts.Morgan Library- Fighting to Learn- We shoiuld always be fighting to educateDuring the holidays the transit system runs vintage trains. My daughter and I rode in a subway car from 1964, oddly the year that I was born. The ads were what cracked me up!!Sonny Boy- top is folded harissa eggs, and the bottom is burrata with figs and hot honey. So good. *** Creamline- Egg Nog Shake…yum *** Monsieur Vo- bahn mi platter…just perfect***filled donuts are a Hanukah tradition- these are from Bread Bakery and they are outstanding- vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and passionfruit- Vanilla was my fave ***Victor’s Cafe- Cuban Sliders, Green Plantains with Garlic mojo (so good) and a little veggie paellaMet Museum- This is Gallery 700- also one of my favorite rooms at the Met. There is a grab and go cafe to the side of this gallery- sometimes I grab a tea and sit along the side of the gallery and just look at all the beauty. It’s perfection. Met Museum- Crossing- Differing interpretations of the iconic Washington Crossing the DelawareGolden Girls Pop Up- this was just fun!! And they had cheesecake for dessert!! What does amaze me is that when the show started, three of the characters were supposed to be younger than I am now…insert amazed face here
Merry Christmas, LA! A few of your photos hit home. All good of course, but my wife and I know Victor’s Cafe and the MET it always gorgeous. The food you showed is great looking and time with your daughter is precious. But, born in 1964? You’re just a baby. We kids from the 50’s (1952) are now officially ancient.
LA, I could write a whole lengthy comment on most of your sections of photos, but my Christmas present to you is that I won’t.🤣 It is so obvious that your fun-loving daughter is home and you are enjoying your time together in multicultural NYC and the wonderful season. Thanks for sharing your adventures and Merry Christmas!
Love the pics!
LOL about your daughter crushing you in Ping Pong, haven’t played it in years. When I was little I remember my Dad surprising us kids with a Ping Pong table for Christmas. I had fun watching my siblings and parent’s be competitive. I could hardly see above the table. 😄
Merry Christmas!
I love the photo of the first edition of “A Christmas Carol.” It’s a treasure to be enjoyed each year and taken to heart all year long. Thank you for sharing!
Merry Christmas, LA!

Merry Christmas from the hinterlands. We spent Christmas week 2013 in New York City. I have several vivid memories from that week.

Gah…all that food looks so good, as always. I love the idea of renting a ping pong room (and they chose a perfect name for their business).

It’s so nice having the room! And there are nets to scoop up balls…and they have a replay feature which was fun
