- The highlight of my week was clearly meeting up with Cheryl from Living in the Gap!! She is just as wonderful in person as she is on her blog!!!
- The birdhouses at the Botanic Garden are so much fun! This is my favorite so far
- Saw two plays this week- Good, not great. “What the End Will be” sort of goes all over the place- a 90 minute one act play needs to have a bit more direction. 1971 is a re-enactment of a conversation between James Baldwin and Nikki Giovanni- to call this a play is a stretch
- Montgomery Clift festival at Film Forum. “A Place in the Sun: is just an amazing movie- can’t believe I’d never seen it before!!
I’m fascinated by the James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni, and Cheryl Oreglia. How great!

First…if it’s possible Cheryl is more awesome in person than on her blog!! Just a lovely person and enjoyable night!! Secondly, what struck me about the replay of the conversation between Baldwin and Giovanni was how Baldwin constantly referred to her as “sweetheart” even though there was no indication at all of any relationship. I thought how this convo wouldn’t happen today because if a man said “sweetheart” to a woman now, the conversation would be over

1st, ❤️. 2nd, I just found their actual conversation online. I’m going to use “Sonny’s Blues” in the classroom next year, so I’ve gone down the Baldwin/Harlem rabbit hole in the past few days.

This was really a wonderful conversation..I got much out of it and many things to ponder. (Just didn’t make for a great play)

My son called me sweetheart when he was a toddler. He thought it was my name.

How lovely to meet another blogger, in person! I bet it’s really great to meet people behind avatars. 🙂 The conversation between James Baldwin and Nikki Giovanni sounds interesting, maybe I should look it up. Thanks for your inspiring posts.

I don’t think I’ve seen any Montgomery Clift films! May have to add this to the Netflix queue.

I am playing catch-up so I’m reading things out of order, but you regularly post what inspired you and what you are grateful for. Referring to your post about positive statements, these support that you are pragmatic, but positive. In today’s world we have to work at being both.

I think so too. Without looking at something as it really is, we can’t progress

Hi LA, I’m still not home! We stopped in our Campbell house for a few hours, did laundry, hosted a birthday dinner for Dante who we were delighted to find home, and headed straight to the lake to meet up with friends. I’m finally sitting in my chair at the lake, no company, and spending some time with my favorite blogs! It was such a joy to meet you in person. You are an absolute treasure. Next time we need to include the husbands. Larry felt outnumbered on the rooftop! I’m not sure I’ve seen A Place in the Sun? Might be my afternoon treat! Hugs, C
