Every now and then I need to take stock of the things in my life that really make me smile. Obviously, pets and friends and family, but sometimes there are tangible things that are an integral part of my life. I try to eschew material goods, however, some things are just made for me.

These are the things I use/admire every day:

  1. my ipad- Books, email, wordle, blog comments. I would be lost without this handy little piece of tech
  2. pink gel pens
  3. planner
  4. device that keeps my tea warm while I write
  5. water bottle with a strap
  6. fuzzy slippers
  7. fuzzy robe
  8. mattress base that adjusts up
  9. my vanity
  10. my desk
  11. spotify playlist
  12. hot water bottle
  13. eye pillow that can be heated or chilled
  14. fresh flowers
  15. loose leaf tea

Now it’s your turn: What are some things that make your life better?

      1. Definitely Doug, although Starbucks isn’t my first choice. We have Seattle’s Best brand here (of course) and I like both Henry’s blend and also Post Alley- a bit more intense in flavor. I love to try different brands, but always dark roast and I’m not at all a “dress up your coffee” sort of person. Straight up black is all I need.

      1. LOL! Thanks… I started out just replying to comments on my phone for I didn’t think I could really post on my phone, but proved myself wrong. Though now you know the reason for the typos. Yeah, if only that was true. 😂

  4. my aeropress (better than the french press IMHO), dark roast coffee BEANS (and by default my grinder!), my Sennheiser earphones, my BedBuddy (no, not Hubby! – look it up), comfy flannel pjs, a quilt I made for my parents (RIP), my new Uke!, a particularly garish painting Ma did as part of a series – it reminds me of her outspoken self…
I guess this could count as a gratitude list, too, right LA?!!

  5. Imagine a man sitting in Nottingham. It’s 3,000 miles away and in a whole different world. I didn’t know you could get a device to keep tea warm. I just drink it fast or drink it cold. As for a water bottle with a strap – I get water from a tap and have pockets to keep stuff in. Hot water bottle – yes, I do agree on that, as it’s currently fighting off the arthritis in my left hand.

Paper. Pen (preferably fountain). Er . . .

Apart from that I clearly lead a deprived life. 🙂

      1. I peek at email and blog posts before the alarm rings. If I don’t dawdle, we’re out on the street when Logan is taken to school. We don’t remember how it started, but if Logan waves from the back seat, John and I use both arms to wave until he is out of sight. It’s silly, but we all enjoy it.

  6. Oh I need to get some of those things. I recently treated myself to a big Kindle upgrade. I got a fancy Paperwhite and love it. I never splurge on things, so this was a big deal and I don’t regret it – it makes me so happy to use it! Also – I’ve just gotten into Spotify so I can see this becoming something that will make me happy. Other than that, the simple pleasures are the ones that make me most happy.

      2. I love it! I go for trail walks with my dogs everyday as well as go to the gym every once in a while. I have found that any form of exercise is great for clearing my mind and releasing extra energy.
