My dog follows me to the bathroom every time I go, even if I’m just getting a tissue or replacing the toothpaste.
Why she does this is a mystery to me.

I think it’s because she loves you and wants to be with you. So when you leave the room she finds you. Cats do the same thing. They pretend NOT to like you until you leave to use the bathroom. Then they can’t fake it anymore and follow you to the potty purring and rubbing against your legs. No more pretending to be aloof! 🙀😻Gotcha kitty. You like me, you really like !

Hahaha! I could take this in so many different directions. I’ll choose to stay with Lesley’s answer just to be safe. I think what would be even more mysterious is if your cat did the same!

LA,
Bud follows me around the house, too. I taught him a long time ago that I want my privacy in the bathroom, so smart dog that he is, he waits for me just outside the door. Having Bud around is much like having a body guard only better! So glad he’s with us, even when he’s barking his head off, which is often. I’d say that because dogs are pack animals, your dog, as mine, has adopted you as part of his pack! Isn’t it good to be included in that club!

My fave is when she decides to sleep attached to my side…because I’m one of those dogs in the bed people

Same with mine. I read somewhere that they bite you as their “pack mother.” Still, it can be annoying at times!

I’d like to at least go to the bathroom on my own…but yeah…😆

I heard somewhere that it’s because they consider you a member of their pack and going to the bathroom puts you in a vulnerable position, so they are protecting you. I’m not sure if this is true or not, but it’s a lovely thought.

That makes a lot of sense. She sleeps at the foot of my bed when my husband isn’t home, which I think is the same thing…protection

I was about to type what Writer McWriterson said. The wolves do it too.

I would love to know the answer to that mystery! And wish I could see into my dog’s brain. Would love to know what goes on there. LOL!
