I am a fan of The Killers.

When I say this, I refer to the rock band, not people on death row. Though I guess it could actually go either way because I do tend to gravitate towards movies and TV shows about serial killers…

But I digress.

Mr. Brightside. The Killers.

So a few months ago I got an alert that The Killers were playing Madison Square Garden on September 30.

I check my calendar. I’m free. Awesome.

So on the appointed date -ok- I was at the shore the weekend tickets went on sale, so three days after tickets went on sale… I bought two tickets. I electronically added it to my online calendar.

Now, on the first day of each new month, I go through my obligations. I look at what’s on the books and see if I need to prepare for anything. I begin to schedule tasks, confirm things, etc.

And I look to the end of the month and I don’t see event scheduled in my online calendar…

Hmmmm

So I go back to the tickets and I do “Add to my calendar” again.

Nothing.

I go back to the tickets to quadruple check the date.

2022.

The tickets are for next year.

And I pull up my electronic calendar for 2022- wedding in March. Weekend with friends in July. Killers in September…

Tech wins this round for having the right date while I didn’t…

But really- who would think The Killers would be selling tickets over a year in advance?

I think my Husband is busy that day:

Anyone want to join me for the show?

  1. Glad to see I am not the only one. I bought tickets to see Ziggy and Stephen Marley celebrate their father’s 75th at Red Rocks, last year, then Covid hit. They rescheduled the show. I was all kinds of excited, made plans booked a hotel so we wouldn’t have to drive home (it’s only 90 minutes but hey man) then I checked the schedule and no Ziggy…. no Stephen – what? Did they cancel? Looked at the tickets on the phone, yup – 2022. Bummer. Devil is always in the details.

  2. The wonders of technology. I hope it reminds you to go too! A friend of mine bought very expensive tickets to the Eagles reunion tour some years back, so far in advance, that they set them aside and then totally forgot about it. Chalk it up to middle age memory loss….

      1. Hey LA, are we talking the same thing ….you paid your money for two tickets right, but the event is over a year away ….right? And assuming other Killer fans purchase tickets for a show in their area with a similar advance date….somebody’s holding on to a large sum of prepaid money collecting interest…hence a “float”….and maybe a front row float at that.

  3. I’m having trouble with the electronic tickets thing. We ordered tickets for a football game in October and I don’t know how to download the tickets. Maybe they aren’t ready yet? I could send them from my husband account to mine — but there’s nothing there. Of course there’s no contact info for help either. I’m hoping the tickets will be available closer to the date. My husband is a big Sam Darnold fan, so we’re going to the Panthers and Cardinals.

  4. Nothing at all to do with your post, but I am listening to the news and just want to send you a hug, I know how hard this time of year is for you.
    Bright Blessings
