Today’s Poll is about whether or not smokers should have access to vaccine first. Please go directly to my site if you would like to participate. FYI- the lovely Claudette is now on the mission to have polls appear in reader…Go Claudette!
I saw the red dot in the Pollock painting. I don’t think anyone should get the vaccine.

I think we are extremely divided on this issue. But I would love it if people discussed it with one another. I think we need to talk about this. And we need to talk about a whole bunch of other stuff

I’ve had the black and white cookie in Pennsylvania but I can’t compare, so I have no idea if it truly is the same recipe all over. Perhaps if the Pollack wasn’t a close up, the red dot was easy to spot. As usual killer playlist.

I did the close up but somewhere in the stupid amount of met pics is the whole pollock

Big highlights! I’m envious of your proximity to The Met. I especially love the Gerard and Villers portraits.

I miss going to the Met. At the end of the world, I wanna be stuck there. And that Maple Cruller, it looks like a work of art!

I know. Gretchen Rubin (the happiness guru) had set a 2020 goal of going to the met everyday. Obviously she didn’t do it, but it’s a cool idea to try. Funny thing about the cruelller….my daughter and I intended to just split at egg sandwich, but she saw the crueller and called an audible. She said it was best thing she’s eaten in awhile. It just melted in your mouth

What a fantastic idea! It’s really like having a daily vacation.
So it looks as delicious as it tastes. She made the right call then.

I went to the Met in 2019 when my husband and I spent a week in NY. We saw the Rock and Roll exhibit. It was awesome. Then we got lost and happened upon the Rembrandt, Renoir, Degas, etc. So lucky because that place is huge and I never would have found them without getting lost. Thanks for the pictures it was fun re-visiting some of those. Also, Black and White cookies are my favorite. Yum.

Love black and white cookies, I have been able to get them here and really anywhere I have traveled, but they were invented in NYC. I am sure the originals are probably the best but I love them whenever and where ever I can get them. Love your museum tours. Funny about Pollack, my father resented him, they were artists at the same time and he never thought his painting took any talent, he just had a good publicist. No kitty pictures but Betty was very cute in her pink coat.

To be honest those suffering from smoking related illnesses (usually lungs!) and whether they should be first to have the vaccines is contentious, my take is NO they forfeited that right. Once the elderly are vaccinated, everyone’s name should be put in a hat and it’s post luck who’s next.

Loved the art. How I wish I could spend hours at the Met. BTW, black and white cookies are a staple in Florida. You can get them anywhere. But the best are the home made ones at delis. They were a treat for dessert for my kids growing up.
And I think everyone should take the vaccine if their health allows so we can stamp out this virus. I don’t think we should discriminate between illnesses. I had an allergic reaction from the first shot but I’m taking the second one too. I figure If I get covid I’ll die anyway because of my weakened immune system. So, If I have a severe enough reaction to the shot I might have to be hospitalized, but’s it’s unlikely I’ll die from it. So, I’d rather try to live thru the shot. I fought too hard to beat cancer to die from covid so I’ll make it through shot number two. We have to beat this disease. I was in elementary school in the 1950’s when they were giving out polio vaccines. I went to school with kids who had been paralyzed from polio, had miniature arms or legs that didn’t grow be of polio. They got the disease before the vaccine was given out. That vaccine saved lives and people trusted it. We defeated polio. Let’s defeat covid.

My bishop in our ward had had polio and walked with a permanent limp from different-length legs. I hope you don’t get another reaction, Lesley!

Hoping you don’t have a bad reaction with the next shot! And the met….I just love it. I never know what I’m about to stumble on

I miss going out to Museums. But there’s nothing like the Met! And quite honestly everyone I know who had the second shot had some kind of reaction to it. It’s more severe than the first. But I’m willing to take that chance. My sister is driving in to go with me when I get the shot and she will spend the night so I won’t be alone. That way if I need assistance I’ll have help. She had the shot last week, didn’t react to first one, but got sick with the second one for several days. So she doesn’t want me be alone. Im sure everything will be fine. But I’m relieved that she’s coming. I could have asked my local son, but I didn’t want to worry him.

We’ve been to so many museums we are almost out of exhibits to see. Which is why the Met is great…you never run out if things to look at!

I hope they investigated the reporters who harassed the youngest son of Trump. That was outrageous. People have little respect unless it is theirs. On the other hand, the black and white cookie looks so good and so right for a carb free girl. No, no , no…no carbs.

Black and white cookies are sold in NC. I lived on Long Island for 40 years before I read in a travel magazine that black and white cookies were special there. I guess I missed the orientation class.

It’s funny cause it’s the one thing I’ve never seen when I travelled. But it does seem like it’s mainly an east coast migration thing

The black and white cookies sold in NC are fairly small. When I read this was a specialty of the region, I went to a bakery on Long Island and bought one for us and our guests from Colorado. They were HUGE! We couldn’t eat them at one sitting. What size do you see?

(I also haven’t seen a maple crueller.)

It’s a cake sort if cookie…not hard but not chewy and soft either. The coating is icing…heavy on confectioners sugar

I grew up in a time just after polio but while there were still people at school wearing calipers. Chickenpox and measles still killed or crippled a lot of kids. These were also the days when we got our views on science from scientists rather than people on the internet. I am therefore firmly in favour of vaccination.
I am also an ex-smoker. As such, I damaged my health and contributed a lot to the government by way of the taxes they charged on cigarettes.
While I’m not in favour of smokers being seen as a priority group, I’m not in favour of seeing them singled out for criticism either.
If we don’t vaccinate the young (because they don’t need it) and the old (because they are going to die soon anyway) or the smokers and fat people (because it serves them right) who are we going to vaccinate? A group of self-righteous people who want to tell me how to live. That’s who.
It’s a bit like the old, nuclear war conundrum. Looking at the people who would be saved in government bunkers did you really want to survive and live in their version of a brave new world?
There’s something about Mondays, and some of your posts, that really brings out the worst in me. As for people who can’t tell the difference between comedy and a death threat, they must lead a life of darkness and misery I don’t always agree with everything that comedians say, but I do believe it’s the job of some of them to make us think.

I could do, but political comedians tend to be deficient in the matter of cute pets, which you are not. OK, the cat looks like a psycho in that Big Bird outfit, but cute apart from that.

My only cooment on them is that there are a few I’d like to see without having to wait too long. But that’s dangerously close to politics and comedic terrorism.

PS. I watched the 1996 Masterpiece version of Rebecca recently and didn’t care for it, other than the scenery and clothes. While I read the book in high school, I obviously didn’t remember it, as I couldn’t get past the fact that she knew he had murdered his first wife and was okay with that? I love Lily James in anything, but am not sure I’m up for another version. Betty looks pretty in pink. I was wondering how she got her name?
