OK- first off we should all be grateful for leap day! Why? I don’t know- I guess because it’s a magical extra day- and I believe there’s some sort of legend that woman are encouraged to ask a man to marry them…not that you can’t do it- but society still hasn’t gotten past man on bended knee offering a jewel to his beloved…
OK- we’re done with that because that could be the beginnings of a blog post…
But anyway-
The past few days in NYC it has been extremely windy- let’s set the stage. I was walking across town (I was at Container Store if anyone cares) and as I walked down the street, a piece of metal, slightly larger than a shutter, came twirling from the sky and landed maybe fifteen feet in front of me. There was a bike messenger standing next to me, and we looked at each other-
Did that…
Where…
We looked up to see where it came from…
A man who was coming from the opposite direction picked the sheet up and moved it out of the sidewalk path and we all just looked at each other- grinning because we all knew that story could have been so much more than a mere anecdote of the day…
So- I am grateful that I don’t walk very fast….
Iβm so grateful for all of it

Scary almost. Walk slowly, stay safe.

It was surreal. The two guys and I just looked at each other and we sort of babbled stuff. Considering how busy this neighborhood is at 2 in the afternoon it really is surprising no one got hit

so what you’re saying is there is more danger in the NYC skies other than just the pigeons.

You got that right!!

Did you see any cows swirling past, or perhaps a snarky hawk-faced woman pedaling a bicycle overhead… π
For reals though, you were all very lucky!

It is windy here also. The pug and I got knocked over by the wind several times this morning and then a jogger whizzed by stopping to pet the pug. I felt a little wimpy and said, “I must go the gym and lift weights.” Enjoy your day!

I was meeting my friend yesterday and I felt like the wind carried me down 86th street from the subway to the museum

On my walk I thought well when I turn the corner I won’t be walking into the wind…wrong it was just as bad couldn’t get away from it. Though it never came from behind me?

Very windy here too. Wow! I can just imagine you all looking at each other, like, did that just really happen. LOL!
If that would have hit you, it may have been a tad worse than your cold! Which I do hope is better! π

I drove up the valley yesterday, it’s a lovely drive, the roads climbs up and down and the whole time when I was going north the lake is on my right (opposite going south of course). The road alternates but is mainly two lanes going in each direction.
I was thinking that vehicles zoom past each other at 100 km (what is the force when two opposites collide at that speed?) and you never know the mind and state of the person who is coming at you at the combined rate of 200 km. Maybe they just got fired, kicked out of the house, just left the pub?
I am always kind of hoping that angels will guide me, and maybe that red light when I left town, was put there so I will miss an accident by 30 seconds rather than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Indeed I count every disappointment, or slowing down as my glass being half full.

I’m glad you are OK. That was a NY moment — people sharing smiles because they were thrown together in a dangerous situation.

Yes it was…at least I had people to share it with

Mine was a sad start. We drove out of our development, only to see the black cat that comes around, flat on the road. It brought tears to my eyes. He hasn’t a lucky black cat.

This is what I try to say when the accident ahead of me has created a traffic jam/delay.
At least I wasnβt IN the accident.

Exactly! You have to find the moral, so to speak

If youβre delayed, the inconvenience is temporary. If youβre IN the accident, the damage is real.

This made me chuckle – but then I felt guilty for chuckling βcause it could have been horrific! ππ
Thanks for sharing π

Well…I did chuckle too…I mean…this metal sheet was swirling in the air…when I first saw it I went to grab my camera and then I thought…ooh…this could be dangerous…

Whoa! Fifteen feet is way too close for something like that! You read stories about people getting injured – or killed – by random falling tree limbs so lucky you for not becoming an article in the newspaper!

It was more surreal than anything else…like is this really happening?
