The last week of summer has just ended, and the first week of school is straight ahead…
- I spent the better part of the week helping my daughter clean her room and purge things she no longer wants or needs- which means many, many trips to Goodwill
- I am tired of reading college essays. Please make it stop.
- Our drama this weeks revolves my daughter’s high schools new split schedule, where you can have periods 1-8, or 2-9. My daughter got the latter, but it means she gets out of school later, and her tennis coach wants all athletes to leave after 8th(thereby missing 9th) and as my daughter has her hardest core class 9th, what do you think I said in my letter to the coach?
- I listened to the utterly silly “SpongeBob SquarePants” Broadway, as well as the “mean Girls” soundtrack….why? I don’t know but it was fun…
- Friends welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world a few weeks ago, so of course I went to see him/them! Ahhh…the new baby smell. But outside of the first whiff, I ham no pangs of longing for a baby. I was pretty happy to hand him back to his adoring parents. But the baby happens to reside in Brooklyn, right near the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, so what’s better than a walk across the day on a beautiful Sunday…
- You know I watched a lot of US Open this week….seems like an odd amount of controversary concerning officials….the second week of play should be interesting…
- “Eighth Grade” in theaters. Interesting movie about the angst of middle school during social media frenzy- interesting to watch if you are a parent- not sure how others will perceive it. Director was apparently a Vine star (remember that app which allowed you to make and publish 7 second videos) so filmmaking is reminiscent of that sort of sound bite (byte?) style
- “Dear Mrs. Bird” by AJ Pearce- novel about a twenty something girl during WWII- average. I may review at a later date- still coming up with thoughts on the book
The week to come is going to go by way too quickly…as I fear the next 10 months will.
Have a great week!!!!
It’s gonna be a whirlwind next week. Sitting on my porch while the family sleeps pining for more coffee, but that means I gotta get up…😉☕

I watched some of the US Open while at the health club. For a change, everyone was watching it instead of basketball! I am tired of reading essays. That coach has an interesting lot. I can’t imagine how challenging it must be to be a teacher in New York especially with balancing your own family needs. I see teachers to be living there in their twenties and then wising up and moving. Enjoy your day.

You only have to deal with college essays once, right? So it should be over soon. (((hugs)))😙

I did wait a day before I wrote to him. I’m not always tactful….

I am so glad I don’t have to deal with high school schedules anymore. That is one of my pet peeves. How fun to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. I guess it is like walking the Golden Gate, which I did for the first time for my 60th birthday even though we’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area my entire life. Happy Sunday.
