My life is still filled with end of school year and just because it’s June obligations. Here’s a little review of my week:
Kate Spade. This crushed me just a little. The Kate Spade style is one that my Daughter and I embraced. We don’t own anything from when she was actually running the company, the her aesthetic of clean lines and fun bold colors remained. There’s a Kate Spade store not far from my house and it will be with renewed sadness every time I pass it. RIP

Anthony Bourdain. My Daughter and I had the pleasure of seeing him live when we attended a taping of “The Chew”. I also was a frequent visitor of Les Halles back in the days before he was famous. The original Les Halles is also in my neighborhood and I walked past it earlier this week, before this tragic event. RIP
Where I went:
ICP (International Center of Photography) You know I am a frequent visitor to this museum! Wonderful Henri Cartier-Bresson exhibit, as well as RFK Funeral Train: The People’s View, Multiply, Identify, Her (about female photographers and female subjects) and Elliot Erwitt: Pittsburgh 1950. My Husband hates this museum because he finds it too Avant garde, so I took him to a great brunch before.
Celebration of National Iced Tea Day with my Tea Society. We tried delicious very berry, tropical green and black rose teas from Brooklyn Tea, a small local business, but doing some very inventive things with tea.
What I watched:
It’s Haley Dean Mystery Month on Hallmark Mystery Channel, and I love a good cozy mystery!!
I haven’t found a good summer show yet. Everything looks blah…
What I listened to:
This week was really ALL over the place, with a very long playlist. My standouts were:
- “Don’t Matter” Lauv
- “Clarity” Courtney Barnett
- “Increase” David Lang
- “How it Can Be” Cut Worms
- Every Time The Feeling” Nap Eyes
- Beethoven Concerto No. 5 in E flat major Op.73 Allegro
- “Nights in White Satin” Moody Blues
- “Feeling Good” Nina Simone
- “Sign of the Times” Harry Styles (no- I can’t believe I’m obsessed by a Harry Styles song, and I listed it after Nina Simone
- Sinking Sands” Sunflower Bean
What I’m Reading”
“The Ever After” Sarah Pekkanen
“The Dark Angel” Elly Griffiths
Random Question
Have you ever jumped out of a plane?
No. That’s why they make landing gear, so the plane lands on the ground and you step out the door with only your carry-on strapped to your back.
Recipe:
Last week I talked about amazing quiche that I made and Cynthia asked for the recipe, but I figured you would all want it! Thought this was delicious! I did make two changes though- instead of bacon I sautéed spinach, and I used emmental as the cheese because it looked better when I was shopping. The recipe is from the March 2018 edition of Rebook magazine. Hoping you can see on the picture because I couldn’t find the link. The time for the recipe to cook is 20-25 minutes.
What an interesting week!

Celebration of tea’s sounds lovely. I was surprised by the suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain: two people with so much to offer and so many resources. To tell the truth, it depressed me and the attention given to their suicides made me wonder if we weren’t sending a poor message to those around us. There is no glory in suicide. I feel sorry for their children. Enough said.

It was a lovely tea experience. She paired foods with them as well!! The talk of suicide is hard, because we need to ge5 across the message that life is worth living. It’s hard

Completely jealous that you get to go to see amazing photography exhibits like that!
Also…. photography is too avant guarde? A nearly 200 year old art form?

The last exhibit I went with him was a lot of video installation stuff, which I found fascinating and he just shrugged!! It’s such an amazing space…small but wonderfully set up. They spent into this new space a few years ago.

Ah. Video installations are hit and miss for me. Glad they put the effort into the space, though! I’d love to see it if I ever head to New York!

No worries, I may miss reading my feed for a couple of days, but I always try to go back and read what I missed. So I’d have found it eventually either way😉😙

I too am sad about Kate. I loved her purses. And about Anthony. I loved how he showed us stuff from other countries and cities. He was truly amazing. How lucky you got to meet him.

I neve4 got to actually meet him, though at some point I probably did meet him before he was famous. So sad
