Today is Post 100! I can’t believe that I have written 100 posts! In honor of this momentous occasion, I am giving you a list. These are a jumble of my thoughts about this blogging process.
- I thought I would be writing about the process of aging. I realized that I’m not afraid of getting older- and I’m actually not that bothered by it. I just don’t like the fact that it takes me 20 minutes to stand up.
- My writing has gotten better since my early posts- at least I hope so- please tell me I’m a better writer now
- I can be funny, clever, thought provoking, sad, angry and reflective- often in the same post. I hope my writing elicits some sort of emotion. And laughing at me is perfectly fine…I live with a teenager- I’m used to it
- I’m making good strides on my novel. This is thanks to a fellow blogger. I was telling him the problems I was having telling my story, and he said “Dumbass” (Ok- he didn’t say that- but I know he was thinking it) you’re an organized person. Write and org chart for what each chapter of the novel should cover. Then write the scenes.”
- I heard my daughter say to my husband- “We have to dial down the stupid. Everything we do could be a blog” So remember, when I tell you a story about them- they have dialed down the stupid……take that for what it’s worth
- I have met some amazing people through the blogging process. It amazes me that I have found kindred spirits from all over the world, and from 20 blocks away. I am a better person for crossing paths with all of you. Ok- I was pretty low on the humanity scale before, so don’t be too proud……
- Most stories are still person vs person, person vs nature and person vs themselves. But we all manage to tell our stories in different and unique ways. Except for all the new books I’ve read that retell Jane Austen books. It’s time to give those a rest.
- I love and look forward to writing every day. No joke, no sarcasm. This is a highlight of my day.
- What is not a highlight of my day is my present relationship with WordPress. WP keeps telling me its my fault. I think we share the blame….but I’m easy going like that.
- I love reading all your blogs! Each and every one of you inspire me every day, with your courage, strength, wit, humor, creativity….I could go on. Your spirit and attitude is contagious. All your posts make me think, and expand my mind. This is what keeps us young. This is what keeps us living.
- I know I play fast and loose with punctuation and grammar. I don’t care. I’m so structured in every thing else I do. This is my space to safely push the boundaries.
I could probably go on, but need to leave something for the 200 postaversary.
Thanks for reading me! I truly appreciate it, and all the wonderful comments and feedback!
It’s great. Congrats. 👍 👌

I liked #4, create an org chart for each chapter, clever idea. Sounds better than creating an outline. Oh, and it is amusing to think your family is treading carefully, so that they won’t become a Blog story. 🙂 Congratulations! By the way, have you shared what type of book you are writing? Maybe I missed that.

My family dialing down the stupid is my fave. It’s actually working to my benefit, because they actually think before they ask, or if my husband is doing something weird, my kid will say oh oh….I smell a blog post…..I’m writing a novel about how an over 55 community is sort of like moving back to a dorm…..

Grinning from both of your points. Nice to keep your husband on point AND I do think that a 55 community is like moving back to the dorm. Did you see the movie called, “Quartet (2012).” A bunch of older opera singers (good actors) coming together in a senior living community. THAT was like a dorm, really wonderful. I know your story will be GREAT!

Thank you! Is that the one with Michael Caine? It sounds familiar

I don’t think so. Maggie Smith was the main character. There were other well known actors in this movie. I think you would like it.

Congratulations on your 100-post milestone. Re your comment about Austen knock-offs, let me warn you that here in Seattle we were recently subjected to the world premiere of “Persuasion—the Musical!” I didn’t have high hopes for it, but never imagined just how abominable it would be. Unable to convey Austen’s subtle humor and acerbic observations, the writer and director resorted to feeble attempts at slapstick and screwball comedy. The low-point (among many) was one particular song, sung by Captain Wentworth to Louisa Musgrove. It was called “The Happy Hazelnut,” and was just as inane as it sounds. I seriously doubt that “Persuasion, the Musical!” will ever play anywhere beyond Seattle, but should it escape, consider yourself warned. “Dial down the stupid” could well apply here….

Oh, I can’t believe they did Persuasion the musical. I’m banging my head against the desk if you can’t hear it……

This is such a perfect post! Congrats on 100 of them. 🙂
Love the frequent use of words like ‘dumbass’ and ‘stupid’ — and those are great ways in your own writing to avoid grammar rules. Have fun characters who do and say whatever you want.
And you are a good writer, we see it and your humor every day. I’m glad you are pushing yourself of the organizational side of it. It’s one of your best skills / assets, use it to help push your creativity. 🙂

congrats!!! you’ll catch your H and daughter in a moment of weakness and forgetfulness. pounce on them like a cat. and punctuation and grammar is for your college courses. I could care less about it here. it’s not like it’s graded unless you want us to grade it.

Congrats on post..100. As for number 9 in your listicle…be it WordPress or another “communal” publishing platform, tension between provider and user is axiomatic. Around post 200 you’ll think back on these tiny tech battles as little more than a constant learning curve.

Doug
